Posted: 24 July TLDR: As long as you go into System Shock (SS) knowing that this is more of an slow paced, puzzle focused immersive sim than a traditional action focused FPS, then you're in for a great time. If this is any indication Nightdive should be the only studio allowed to do remakes, nobody else seems to get it.Įasily a recommend without a shred of hesitation, buy this game. I really hope Nightdive tackle System Shock 2 next. If you've gotten used to game giving you objective markers and telling you exactly where to go, play this game and you will truly come to appreciate those things even more, but the satisfaction for finishing games that don't hold your hand is like no other. Its a blast from the past and I loved every second of it. You will need a piece of paper and something to write with, just like we used to do in the old days to keep track of things. There will be a lot of aimless wondering until you find the audiolog you're looking for that gives you clues on what you're supposed to be doing. This game does not hold your hand, it does not tell you anything more than you need to finish it. If you told me this game was some superfans 25 year in the making modpack for the original system shock I would 100% believe you, you can tell this game was crafted with love and reverence for the original game. It remains extremely faithful to the original while modernizing mechanics and gameplay but it never forgets what it was. This might go down in history as one of the most faithful remakes, this is how you're supposed to do a remake.
